Fireflies have always tickled the fascination of people. In cultures across the world, they are seen as figures of the human, the innocence, the uncorrupt. With climate change, we are loosing literally our fireflies (the insect, but also our symbolic pure human spirit.
Based on this thoughts, Luci is a way to give back and preserve the optimism of the youth that has suffered from the darkest events on the globe.
When refugees arrive in Europe, this object is a token to reassure them. On a functional level, the lamp is adapted to be used as a flashlight, mobile, to go for example to the bathroom without fear of being assaulted in the camps (that is unfortunately a reality). But also, once let down, the flashlight becomes a reading light, that the children can use to read, feel safe, and giving them the space to imagine whatever they want to.
As this is an object among at quality, to finance this, a system would be in place where anyone can buy this lamp in store, and by doing so, enables that another lamp is send to the children.
